Rode
are an Australian company who make high-quality microphones for
not-a-lot of money. The NT2 and it's cheaper brother the NT1 have
made an extremely good name for themselves, and have consequently
found a niche within the project and main studio market, while
being affordable enough to be available to home studio users too.
Harbeth have had a long association with
the BBC, and have made many custom speaker designs for them. When
they set about designing a pair of near-field studio monitors
for the home and project studio, the DPM1 Expression range was
the result.
My
pair are passive, but there are active versions of these available,
as well as the "pro" passive version which includes
a tweeter overload protection system. Also available is a smaller
version, and a subwoofer as well.
HHB have their own branded version of
these monitors made by Harbeth as well, although with speaker
cone in a more HHB-styled purple, rather than pink.
