| 1.0 |
First
public release. Not many DPS12's were shipped with this. |
| 1.0a |
Most
of the first batch of DPS12's were shipped with this version.
There are some drive handling problems with this version, so if
you have this or earlier versions of the OS, you should consider
upgrading as essential, before you lose something important! |
| 1.1 |
First
upgrade available from Akai. Added extra bus, master out level,
some improved locate functions, improved drive handling, improved
align function, a few shortcuts to the control panel, and some
other miscellaneous bugfixes. |
| 2.0 |
Added
CD-R/CD-RW support, both backup and audio CD creation, timestretch
and stretch-insert edit commands, improved backup handling (support
for multiple backups on one disk), four new reverb algorithms
(only with FX board included) |
| 2.10 |
Added
SysEx support (for the forthcoming MESA), bugfix for punch-out
glitches, bugfix for adjusting edit points in bar.beat.clock mode. |
| 2.11 |
Bugfix
release. Fixes for minor bugs that in some circumstances could
cause a "system lock", and a bug when reloading multiple
disk backups to a disk with not enough free space is fixed. |
I don't have any
further infomation about future DPS12 plans. I would hope to get some
new features and this may well happen, although Akai's effort will
probably mostly be focussed on the DPS16 for a while. This could be
a good thing though, as new features for the DPS16 could well filter
down into the DPS12, as much of the two machines' core operating system
is very similar.
| How
do I find out what version I have? |
The version number
is displayed onscreen when the DPS12 powers up. In addition, with
V2.0 and above, pressing the "INFORM" key on the DISK page
when the cursor is on SCSI ID:6 (or whichever ID your DPS is set to),
the version number is also displayed.
| Can
I read project data backed up with early OS versions after I upgrade? |
Yes,
you should be able to. Certainly there are no problems with DAT backups
- I can successfully read 1.0a DAT backups with V2.0. However, some
people have reported difficulties in reading backups made to both
SCSI devices and DAT. Without further information it's impossible
to say whether this is a bug in the OS or whether those particular
backups were corupted for some other reason.
